Some weekends of racing are unforgettable, and yet others … well, this was one of those others. We ended up having to race our older chassis this weekend and trying to fine tune it to find the speed we needed. On day one, Mateo qualified 19th out of 43, and finish the pre-final in 24th place after a couple of issues on track. The final did not go much better, and we fell back to finish 26th despite a great start.
After some modifications to the kart Mateo managed to qualify in 15th position, and ran in the top 12 early in the race, but the pace just was not there and he fell back to 16th position. In the final Mateo got up to the top 15 and had a couple of great on-track battles which showed his persistence, and determination. In the end he got shoved off the track on lap 12, and managed to bring his kart home in 26th place. A frustrating weekend for sure, but one we will draw many lessons from moving forward. On to the next USPKS at Road America coming up in July.
