Mid-State Kart Club Round 4

On Thursday evening we got a text the scrambled out weekend plans. The MCC ProAm race was being postponed due to expected severe weather in the early morning hours Saturday. We knew the weekend was a conflict between our home clubs so with a quick check of the weather, we cancelled our Cincinnati trip and began planning to race at Mid-State instead.

It was sweltering with high heat and humidity but summer Saturday racing at Mid-State means racing under the lights. The format for the day was 2 heats and a final, rather than qualifying, pre-final, final. Mateo finished both heats in second place, setting him up to start on the outside of the front row.

For the final, Mateo got a great start and took the lead in Turn 1. He held the lead for a few laps before getting passed by the eventual race winner. He extended the already sizable gap to third place as the race continued and finished second.
