As 2024 comes to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on the year. It was a special racing season. Mateo’s second year racing cars and specifically Formula F/F1600 gave him an opportunity to build on what he learned in year 1.

From the first Hoosier Super Tour race at Sebring, it was clear Mateo would be a force to be reckoned with. Only an issue with the wheel on the penultimate lap kept him off the podium in that race. From there he went on to win the 5 other SCCA Hoosier Super Tour Formula F races he entered. At the end of the Super Tour season, the championship came down the the Runoff results. Mateo’s second place finish clinched the Super Tour Championship for the second consecutive year.
The Formula Race Promotions season began in March at Road Atlanta. Mateo’s 2 wins at Road Atlanta to open the season market 6 consecutive wins at the track across multiple series dating back to November 2023.
With wins at Lime Rock, NJMP, Road America and a sweep at Pittsburgh, Mateo finished on the top step of the FRP podium 9 times. In total Mateo climbed onto the podium in 15 of the 19 FRP races for the season showing remarkable consistency in this competitive series.
Wrapping up the season meant it was time to start looking forward to 2025 an what new challenges Mateo could take on in the New Year. It’s a bit of back to the future. Two years ago Mateo was deciding between F1600 and Spec MX5. He chose to race F1600 and it has been a fantastic decision. He has grown as a driver and a competitor. He has gained both experience and confidence and benefitted from outstanding coaching and teamwork. Now he is choosing the other fork in that path, reuniting with his former karting coach back with the TKG family to run Spec MX5 in 2025.
